What is the very first thing I need to do to become a real estate investor?

I am just a massage therapist with horrible credit. What is the very first thing that I need to do in order to become an investor? Should I fix my credit asap and pay for a beginner seminar? Any suggestions? I have been working so hard my whole life and am an honest person but fell into some money issues.
Thank you. I feel like everywhere I look to find the baby steps toward this concept are very expensive and I get discouraged.
Thank you

Definitely you should do what you can to improve your credit score. To become a real estate investor you will probably have to borrow money from a bank so you will need decent credit.
Regarding real estate seminars, in my opinion they are generally overpriced and a rip-off. Go to and search for “real estate investing” and “beginning real estate investing” and “how to buy investment property.” You will hopefully see many books that are reasonably priced that you can read on your own.
One bit of advice: If you don’t have money, the only other thing you have is your time and desire to get ahead. So, avoid spending money when you can substitute your time and hard work for it instead.
Good luck.
you definately need to try to clean up your credit. But, find an investor that would put up the money while you furnish your good looks, personality and time. It works out good for both. Thats the situation I’m in.
